Description

Bourgueil, Les Marsaules, Domaine du Bel Air 2016, has an expressive nose, aromas of crushed black berries and wild strawberries with slightly earthy and smoky notes. Balanced and structured flavours, of black fruits, tar, tobacco and black olive. Tightly integrated tannins and cool acidity, leading into a wonderfully perfumed and long finish.
An excellent wine, good for drinking now, although it will surely improve over the next five or ten years in the cellarSince 1979, Pierre Gauthier and his family own the estate Domaine du Bel-Air. its 18 hectares of vines, which received the oorganic farming  certification in 2000.Domaine du Bel-Air is located in the village of Benais. Benefiting from a heritage of old Cabernet Franc which have taken root in the greatest terroirs of Bourgueil, the estate produces wines of great intensity combining concentration, finesse and elegance.Squaregrapes  is proud to present you the wines of the Bel-Air estate which are undoubtedly ranked among the greatest reds from the Loire.Pierre Gauthier’s philosophy is to be respectful of the soil, the plant and its environment. The certification in Organic Agriculture in 2000 brought to light the methods brought with passion for years already. The soils are grassed and ploughed, no weed killers are used, nor chemical fertilizers. Yields are limited and controlled by short pruning, disbudding and green harvesting. All of these actions encourage the roots of these old Cabernet Franc vines to seek in depth nutrients and minerals, thus allowing the wines to gain depth and complexity. No synthetic product, chemical fertilizer is used in the vineyards.

Only organic products are used like sulphur and copper. The grapes are harvested at maturity, with very low yields offering great concentration.

The grapes are carefully selected, first selection is carried out in the to ensure only the healthiest grapes arrives in winery. and undergo a gentle destemming, and a second selection is carried out to remove any unhealthy grapes. The fermentations process takes about 30 days uses traditional method and  indigenous yeasts is used after a cold pre-fermentation maceration. The wine is then fermented in a stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature.

After the  fermentation process, the wine was kept  barrels constantly monitored. The aging process is on average up to 24 months in most vintages.

Bourgueil, Les Marsaules, Domaine du Bel Air 2016 cuvée showcase perfectly the depth of old Cabernet Franc plants, producing  very low yields, is expressed magnificently. A Bourgueil of great expression which offers immediate pleasure as well as a strong aging potential.
