Description
Minervois, Domaine Pierre Fil Heledus is an expressive and balanced red wine, with aromas of blackcurrant, cherry, blackberry followed by round and silk tannins. The Pierre Fil vineyard has been passed on from father to son for 7 generations. The vineyard is located in Mailhac, a stone’s throw from Narbonne, perfectly situated between the Mediterranean sea and the mountains, resulting in a special climate and soil. Here the vines grow on a sandstone soil Rolled pebbles aerate and drain the soil. “We don’t inherit our parents’ land, but we borrow it from our children.” Respecting the heritage it wants to pass on to the next generation, Pierre Fil produces wines with original aromas, a delicate texture and a clear signature. The region was mainly oriented towards the production of mass wines. However, with a few winemakers convinced of the potential of our terroirs, we were working to improve quality and recognition of our products The Minervois was already recognized since 1936 as VDQS (Superior Quality Delimited Wine). the addition of carbonic maceration methods was a game changer, this technique, allow the Carignan has lost its hardiness, the tannins are more coated and is undeniable aromatic gain. In the 1970s, a better understanding of the terroirs was better, and grape variety experiments resulted on the establishment of Mourvèdre a of Spanish origin, in region of Minervois. In 1986, the Minervois was recognized Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée, the Mourvèdre is one of the grape varieties of the appellation decree. The amount of work, but certainly paid off, it is a what joy to taste a pure Mourvèdre fully expressing its potential in this wine. Languedoc is one of the biggest wine production in the world, to put things in to prospective, third of the French wine is produced in Languedoc. it produces three times more wine then whole Australia. Most of the wines are mass produced diluted and sold cheaply. Minervois, Domaine Pierre Fil Heledus grapes were carefully selected, first selection is carried out in the vineyards to ensure only the healthiest grapes arrives in winery. the whole bunches undergo cold pre-fermentation maceration, The fermentations process takes about 14 to 30 days. The wine is then fermented in a stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature.
