Picpoul de Pinet, Domaine de Montredon is a delightfully refreshing sip. Picpoul is becoming a very popular in the UK, it’s a fantastic all year around drink and a special summer drink.
Picpoul de Pinet, Domaine de Montredon is a mouth-wateringly crisp and refreshing, Picpoul is the grape of the moment. This wine is from It’s from Picpoul de Pinet AOC, a protected area in the Languedoc which is where this grape variety express its full characteristics .
Picpoul de Pinet, Domaine de Montredon is a complex, deep and lively example of this fresh, vibrant wine. It’s incredibly zesty and lemony. If you love crisp whites like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio, then this is an absolute must try. It’s great with seafood, but it’s also especially good with rich cheese.
The vineyards are planted on clay and limestone soils. The vines are on average 15 years old and yield 55 hl per hectare. The sunny south of France is perfect for producing healthy, ripe grapes without too much need for intervention. Despite its relatively high acidity this is fairly late ripening grape here and is harvested after some of the red varieties.
To maintain the quality of the grapes, as soon it is harvested it is taken to the cellar to be processed.
The grapes are carefully selected and goes through a destalking and soft pressing process at controlled temperature to maintain the aromatic characters. The wine is then fermented in a stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature.
