Morgon, JMorgon, Domaine de Colette, Beaujolais, France, 2020 shows notes of violets, crushed cassis, orange rind and blueberries, this full body wine has incredible concentration and energy, well balanced, firm tannins to support its longevity. This is an immensely good young Morgon. great potential for aging.
MMorgon, Domaine de Colette, Beaujolais, France, 2020 does not required introduction. This is a family run business founded by Jacky’s father René. Jacky studied enology at the tender age of 17 and immediately started working with his father in the vineyards.
Their steep pink granite vineyards are home to vines of about 45 years old, but one plot, called Colette, reaching over 80 years. The grapes undergo carbonic maceration followed by a gentle pressing. A pleasant ruby-red colour, the wine presents fresh red fruit flavours in its youth, but over time evolve into delightful complex ripe fruit flavours.
Morgon is situated in Mont du Puy, it is the one of the most characteristic region regarding its soils and the wines generated from the Gamay grapes grown.
Morgon is second largest of the Crus of Beaujolais. The continental climate and the hills protection from strong winds, benefit the grapes to ripe fully and develop complex and concentrated, rich fruit aromas.
Morgon wines are deeper and denser comparing from wines from other Beaujolais appellations.
Morgon wines are only produced in 6 very well-known lieux-dits in the Beaujolais region: Les Charmes, La Côte du Py, les Micouds, les Grands Cras, Corcelette and Douby.
Margon is predominantly planted with Gamey varietal, the majority of the vineyards are planted on the south and east facing hillsides on the banks of Saone river.
The aspect of the vineyards are very important as it maximize sun exposure which ensure the grapes ripe fully and develop complex flavours.
Grapes are hand-picked and fermented with natural yeasts in a cold carbonic maceration in line Beaujolais traditions. low intervention, low sulphur practise are used throughout the wine making process.
Morgon, Domaine de Colette, Beaujolais, France, 2020 has an earthy, floral, cherry and blackberry notes, with velvety and fleshy texture. This wines will develop rich, savoury characters with age.
This wine would be a perfect accompaniment for a strong flavoured food. such beef ribs or grilled poultry meat , Camembert, Brie and Munster.
